Alissa Zrein

LSW | Licensed Social Worker (In supervision toward clinical licensure)

As someone who is familiar with the struggle and discomfort that comes along with finding the right therapist, I understand first hand the immense amount of courage it takes to not only take that leap of faith in asking for help, but I also deeply empathize with the fear and vulnerability that comes along with the process. I make it my number one goal to welcome my clients with warmth, non-judgment, openness, and empathy, and spend the time necessary co-creating a therapeutic space that most benefits and supports the individual. I deeply believe in one’s right to self-determination, that each individual is the expert in their own life, and that we are all deserving of a space to feel heard, emotionally held, and supported in our mental health journey. I strive to work collaboratively with my clients in order to define treatment goals and the steps that will be taken in order to achieve those goals.

So, welcome! My name is Alissa Zrein.  As a therapist, I aim to foster a safe and authentic space where my clients are able to openly process their thoughts, emotions, struggles, and behaviors without judgment. I greatly enjoy supporting the process of self-exploration, delving into one’s past as a means to better understand their present, and celebrating and empowering the strength and resilience of my clients. My therapeutic approach is person-centered and strengths based, utilizing a blend of techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, solutions-focused therapy (SFT), and mindfulness. I also weave in tenants from attachment theory, systems theory, trauma-informed practice, and motivational interviewing when appropriate. I believe in catering treatment to fit each individual and their unique needs, and not the other way around. As a queer social worker, I strive to create a safe and affirming space for folx within the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as am passionate about providing culturally sensitive and responsive care to every individual, especially to those with marginalized identities. I look forward to supporting you in your healing journey!
