Katherine Fesperman

LSW | Licensed Social Worker (In supervision toward clinical licensure)

It’s difficult to discern what it means to feel, think and be. Yet, feeling, thinking, and being- though often uncomfortable, are fundamentally what make us human!

During our sessions, we will work together to explore how our actions, attitudes, belief systems, and experiences influence our cognitive processes, perceptions of ourselves, and engagements with the world around us. I welcome you as you are, regardless of where you are in your journey. If you’re coming in with learned habits and thinking patterns that no longer serve you, we can work together to discover the possibilities of unlearning and relearning. By collaborating, we can understand what it means to develop insight into life’s difficult thoughts, feelings, relationships, and experiences.

In my own life, I invite curiosity, empathy, humor, and vulnerability. I intend to do the same with you! Using trust and empathy as a base, we can build a sense of comfort in the discomfort of life.

I enjoy working with folks experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-esteem issues, body dysmorphia, complex trauma, OCD, interpersonal struggles, day-to-day stressors, and feelings of marginalization. I understand how institutions trap us in systems of oppression. I want to highlight your autonomy and worth as a person using social justice, cultural sensitivity, and trauma informed practices!

My therapeutic approaches draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Psychodynamics, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Practices, and Cultural-Relational Therapy. Together we can make sense of- and find value in the human experience.

I accept Aetna, Cigna, United/Optum, Highmark, & Quest insurances.

I offer in-person therapy in Society Hill as well as Teletherapy.
