Michael (Mickey) Collins

LSW | Licensed Social Worker

(He/They)

It is my goal that therapy can be something to look forward to, even on the heavy days. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, panic attacks, ongoing stress and difficulty relaxing. Perhaps you're struggling with your identity or orientation. You could be dealing with lack of focus, disorganization, and an inability to get started on the things you want to be doing. I want you to know that I'm here to help and excited to meet you!

I am a licensed social worker specializing in (but not limited to) working with the LGBTQIA2+ community. I work with clients spanning from adolescence to adulthood, promoting a compassionate therapy space for individuals to explore their identity and transitional periods. As a therapist, my focus has been working with clients struggling with issues relating to Personal Identity, ADHD, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and Depression.

In session, I prioritize your comfort and safety to create an environment you feel capable of being vulnerable in. I want to help you be your best self. My approach is highly individualized, as I like to get to know you and your struggles so I can apply an evidence-based, best-practice approach to serving every client's individual needs.

My practice is informed by my background in philosophy, and I aim to apply that in the form of thoughtful question-asking to try to encourage my clients to think creatively and intentionally about themselves, their thoughts, and their actions. I will assign “homework” as it feels appropriate, but generally the work in-between sessions is focused on reflecting upon and applying the concepts we discuss in-session into your active life. My approach most frequently utilizes a blend of CBT, DBT, ACT, and REBT.

I accept Aetna, Cigna, Highmark, & United/Optum Insurances.

I am available in-person (Northern Liberties) & virtually.
