LPC | Licensed Professional Counselor
I approach therapy with the belief that every person is a unique and valuable part of the community and world. I will help you to explore where you are disconnected from yourself or from the world around you; how to notice your strengths, and increase your sense of connection, identity, and belonging. I know you might feel anxious to share your thoughts and feelings in sessions so I use patience, warmth, attunement, and empathy with a dash of playfulness to create a safe, trusting environment. Many times although we want change, it can be overwhelming to get started. I use a collaborative approach to help you identify what changes you want to make and help you figure out the best way for you to move towards those goals.
As a new mother, I understand feeling unsure in aspects of a changing identity, navigating changing relationships, conflicted about how I spend my time, and like I am never doing enough. I view my work through a trauma-informed, attachment-based, and systemic lens; focusing on how life experiences and especially those with people and systems around us impact our minds, bodies, and souls as we learn and grow. We will explore the experiences and systems that have impacted you and I will help you to mindfully observe your experience in the present and practice techniques to self-soothe and regulate as needed.
I completed my M.Ed in Counseling Psychology at Temple University and have experience working in community mental health, at a domestic/intimate partner violence safe haven and crisis line, and in a non-profit supporting immigrant and refugee clients as they developed their careers and social networks. I have extensive training in how trauma (such as sexual abuse, loss and abandonment, complex and early childhood trauma, and domestic and intimate partner violence) impacts people and communities including training in trauma focused CBT. In addition to using a CBT framework, I incorporate elements of DBT, mindfulness, somatic awareness, strengths-based counseling, and motivational interviewing. I enjoy helping people to manage anxiety, process and heal from traumatic experiences, build or repair relationships with themself or others, explore executive functioning such as in ADHD, navigate grief, and explore their identities.
Please reach out if you think we might be a good fit to work together. I look forward to meeting you!
I accept Aetna, Cigna, Highmark, Quest, & United/Optum Insurances.
