Sarah DiSanto

LPC | Licensed Professional Counselor

My approach to therapy is focused on providing the tools and coping skills needed to manage struggles independently, while enhancing self awareness and building insight into the root cause of your internal discomfort. Building insight may involve discussing core beliefs that developed during childhood or during other formative life experiences and exploring how these impact your current thought patterns and behaviors. I am passionate about treating women with pregnancy anxiety, postpartum and parenting issues, pregnancy loss and infertility. I am a mother of 2 young children and understand the unique challenges and pressures parents face in society today. My goal is to create a safe, supportive and nonjudgmental space for you to navigate the transition to parenthood and process the changes in identity, feelings of self doubt, and relationship issues that inevitably arise during this period.

My background and training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a highly effective and pragmatic approach to treatment of depression and anxiety. In my work with the perinatal and TTC population, I have found it helpful to utilize relational techniques to process family narratives and social influences that contribute to beliefs about what the motherhood journey should look like. I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, with an emphasis on exploring values and priorities, to help clients examine whether they are living their lives in a way that honors what is most important to them. My approach is compassionate, direct, collaborative and authentic. My goal is to help clients build trust in themselves so that they can establish a greater sense of confidence in their decisions and their ability to navigate life’s challenges.
