Dr. Suzanne Palekar

Psychiatrist

I am a board-certified Psychiatrist. I obtained my Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and did my residency training at Northwell Health in New York, where I served as chief resident. After my residency, I was on faculty at New York University School of Medicine and practiced inpatient psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital. I am currently a faculty member at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine and on staff at Main Line Health System. I am active in medical education, teaching medical students and resident physicians.

I believe that a genuine understanding of the patient leads to best outcomes. Once that is achieved, I believe in a multipronged approach, of which medication is just one part. This treatment philosophy is best executed in collaboration with other disciplines such as therapy, social work and primary medicine.

I love working with all types of mental health challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar spectrum disorder and women’s mental health. I do believe that our life experiences play a major role in our mental health, along with biological predisposition, and I will do my best to understand your perspective as we develop a treatment plan.

I have an office in West Chester and am also comfortable with virtual visits. You can find more information about me here: https://www.nuancepsychiatric.com/
