10 Weeks | 10 members | Virtual | Closed group
Thursdays at 6pm
Hosted by Alexandra Anthony & Teresa Naylor
We are so excited to offer a 10 week group for teens who want to learn how to explore and cope with big emotions and work towards a life that brings them joy. The goal of this group is to allow teens to connect and provide validation, guidance, and support to each other. We want them to feel heard all while learning how to regulate their bodies and minds through mindfulness, thought challenging, and appropriate exposure to fears. We will provide space for group members to share, process, and gain support with real life issues.
Our group will utilize both mindfulness components as well as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to teach group members how to cope with big emotions. CBT is an approach of psychotherapy that focuses on making connections between behavior, thoughts, and feelings. CBT can profoundly help adolescents and teens identify and change dysfunctional patterns of thoughts and behavior. CBT can be effective in treating many teen issues, including:
Anxiety
Depression
Trauma
Disordered eating
Teens will also learn how to utilize mindfulness to enhance their everyday lives and build a deeper connection with themselves. Examples of this include: breathing techniques, visualization, and body scans to feel more connected to your body and sense of self.
